Makenzie Caitlyn was born June 1 at 1:19 p.m. She weighed 7 lbs 12 oz and was 20 inches long. My labor was textbook perfect. I couldn't have asked for easier...and that was a for shadow of her personality. She is an easy baby and sleeps so well for me.
I was induced due to m6y doctor going on vacation the next day. They had me come to the hospital at 6:30 a.m. (ugh so early) My parents, Ashlee and Clint came up and took Alexys for the night which made it easy for Justin and I to get up and go. We got to the hospital and as I was changing into my gown my water started leaking. I thought nothing of it at the time. I had never felt my water break before and had no clue really what it felt like. I expected a huge gush.
Anyway we got checked in and hooked up to monitors (I was having very few contractions) then watched the news for two hours until my doctor showed up. He broke my water around 8:30. Nothing happened, no gush, no onset of contractions. He said watch things for an hour and if nothing was happening to start pitocen. (Did I mention I was 5 cm. dilated when we got to the hospital?) So around 9:30 we started pit and I finally started contracting. I was tolerating them pretty well if I do say so myself but the nurse told me whenever I wanted she would call the anesthesiologist to do my epidural. I gave the go ahead about 10:30. He showed up pretty quickly. As he was doing the procedure he was answering questions from Justin and the nursing student who was shadowing my nurse (he was male too!) So the whole thing was explained really well. It was kind of neat. My epi took effect and was PERFECT! I could feel everything and move my own legs but nothing hurt.
About one the head nurse came into my room and informed me that I had to change rooms. The one I was in was sometimes used for c-sections and they had a women trying to do a vbac. Soon after my family came to check on me. They were there for only a few minutes when my nurse kicked them out in order to check me. My doctor walked in soon after, checked me and said 'let's have a baby.' So they got everything set up and I ended up only pushing through 4 contractions. As her head was halfway out doc said 'look at all that hair!' Justin asked if it could just be fuzz or something but nope it is hair!
Honestly if labor and childbirth was that easy every time and for everyone I think people would have tons more kids.
We ended up going home the next day around 7 p.m. So we were in the hospital only 37 hours or so. Makenzie nurses like a champ and LOVES to sleep. She sleeps 4-5 hour chunks for me at night and has from the day she was born.
Lexys LOVES her and wants to hug, hold and kiss her constantly, which makes life hard sometimes as she wakes Kenzie often.
I couldn't be a more proud or lucky mom!

Makenzie Caitlyn
Poor thing had a bruised nose. :(
Not bad for giving birth less than an hour before.
Lex took this one. She got Kenzie the elephant and really wanted her to love on it.
