Updates

Looking at my previous post made me realize how long it's really been and how much our live have changed since my last post.

My Chewy was hit by a car Jan 2011. He is gone and I miss him terribly.

My Alexys is 5!! I can't believe it! She is so big and smart and she started kindergarten this year.
Where has the time gone??

My sweet Makenzie is almost 2. She talks up a storm and is starting to put two word sentances together. She also can go on the potty but we're not pushing it yet. She is such a happy girl and so funny.

We moved. A HUGE move. From Vernal, Utah to Corpus Christi, Texas. Yep, I'm a Texan! We really enjoy it here. I think I should have been born a Texan. Plus it's warm and we live 10 minutes from the beach!

Justin is rocking at his job. We've been here 6 months and he's already gotten a raise in addition to the more than double salary he accepted in order to move here. It is really nice to be able to buy things with cash when we need them. (We've been lucky!)

We got a new dog. His name is Rhino (Rhino is awesome! He is fully awesome!---10 pts if you can name that movie) He is a valley Bulldog. (mix between a boxer and English bulldog) Hes so cute and great with the kids...but stubborn as an ox. Plus he snores. Loudly.

As ever I miss my family. But the silver lining is all of Justin's family is in the area here. It's nice to have someone to go shopping or out to lunch with. And I've met a few friends. (an unbelievably difficult thing for me. I wish with all of my heart I wasn't so shy)

Life is wonderful. I am truly happy and content for the first time in a long time. I didn't even realize I was unhappy until I became happy. Looking back I was miserable. But here's to the future and only growth from the past!

My goals

I don't blog much (not obvious is it?) I don't like doing it so much. But I need a way to hold myself accountable. So here I am putting this in internet land for all the world to see. We made a decision to go to the Bahamas (or somewhere in the Caribbean anyway) for our anniversary this year. Well in order to go I must have a beach body. I've started. I go to the gym. I exercise a fair amount. However I still eat like crap and haven't really lost any weight. But from this moment on that changes. I have 6 months to be comfortable in a bathing suit. I will do this. And to make sure of it I will be blogging my progress. I will post weekly pics and stats. (nerve wracking to the extreme. I'm embarrassed I've let myself get to this point) Tomorrow I will weigh myself and measure. I will take a pic and I will post it.

Wish me luck!

preview

I haven't gotten around to writing a lot lately. There has been a lot going on though. So I'm making a list to remind myself what I have to make posts about.

  • Dance recital (hopefully the video will load. I tried before but nada)
  • Christmas tree disaster
  • Christmas
  • Texas
  • Crawling (yep Kenzie crawls and pulls herself up on furniture. She is even starting to stand unassisted for a few seconds at a time. The snot)
  • Chewy
  • tooth
Hopefully this week I'll find a few minutes but I have a few projects and a disaster of a house I have to catch up on first so we'll see.

Middle of the night thoughts.

Sometimes reading friends status's on facebook makes me realize how wonderful my life truly is. Today was one of those days and I just feel the need to say it. I have a fabulous husband who would do anything for me and our kids. I love him so much. I have two beautiful, healthy, intelligent daughters who are absoutely perfect. (At least in my eyes) Okay well maybe not perfect, they have flaws, but that is what makes perfection. :) I have a supportive wonderful family behind me. Even though they are too far away to see on a daily, or even weekly, basis they have a thriving relationship with me and my children. Alexys will take the phone and 'play' with my mom for hours. She has such a big imagination. And my mom is so patient with her. I would be so annoyed with some of the things my mom willingly and happily puts up with. I have a home that is all mine. I have heat and a soft bed and food in my tummy and pantry. I have all of these things and I forget to be grateful for them. So at times like this when I remember I want to write it down so that I can look back and say 'hey! Life is good. Be happy.'

Though I will say in passing I wish my husband could have the kind of parents I have. I wish every day he could feel the unconditional love I feel from my family. I hurt for him that his family dynamic is so shaky. I just wish they could realize what a great, ambitious person they raised and be proud of the man he has become. I know I am.

5 Months

Playing in their room

So tired!

Sitting up all by herself. (with our new pound puppy Parker)

Sleepin in the high chair while we make dinner.

Her favorite pass time...talking on the phone.

Grumpy face

Love these girls.

Look at her crazy hair!

I love this one. Her big blue eyes show really well.

My Makenzie is 5 months old now (creeping up on 6 REALLY fast) and I don't know what to do. I get a little weepy every time of think of how fast my girls are growing. I read a poem the other day about the house being dirty and dinner not done but it's all good cause 'I'm rocking my baby. And babies don't keep.' I lose it every time I think of it. It's just not FAIR.

Anyway. Makenzie is my squishy weed. She weighed 13.9 lbs at her 4 month appointment and is AT LEAST a pound heavier. She is a boobie baby. She won't take a bottle, and while that sucks a bit I couldn't be more proud. I didn't make it this long with Alexys. I still feel guilty I fed her formula. The more I learn about that crap the more guilty I feel too.

Makenzie is already rolling both ways, sits all by herself and is getting up on her knees and rocking. I almost guarantee she'll be crawling by Thanksgiving, if not it won't be too long after. :(

She is my happy girl. She smiles a lot and giggles (mostly at Alexys) She is a terrible sleeper. I still am up with her at least 3 times a night. Plus I'm lucky if she takes 45 minute naps. (Once again mostly because of Alexys, who loves to bother her) She loves to play with Lex in their bedroom too. That makes my life easier because I actually get stuff done occasionally.

She loves to bath. I mean LOVES it. She will start kicking her legs and smiling as soon as she hears the tub running. She has also gotten a few solid foods. She likes broccoli, snap peas, green beans, mashed potatoes and most of all totsie pops! (I know I'm terrible)

Alexys is doing so well in preschool. I had parent teacher confrences a few weeks ago. They said she was the 'star student' She is well above most of her class. She knows all of her colors, can count to 10 consistently, can spell her name and she is the leader of the class. She is there to take charge (and probably be bossy) Her best friend is Hadlee, who is non-verbal. Miss Janel and Miss Rita say that Lex just easily took Hadlee under her wing and stands up for her when the others are not being nice. I love this girl.

Life...

Has been crazy busy lately. Since my last post we've:

Spent 5 days in Vegas. We were only supposed to go down for the weekend but the truck broke and we ended up getting the whole back end rebuilt. We also say Justin's parents off to Houston. :(

Spent a week in Mesquite with my family. Really it was just my mom, my girls and I for half of the time. My dad was working the corn stand so he only made it down for the weekend. Colby and Cheryl came down for the weekend also but had to head home for work on Tuesday. Ash and Clint and Brady and Danielle couldn't work it into their schedules.

Makenzie had her first illness. An ear infection. It was so sad.

Started pre school! Lexys goes to the school directly across the street from our house 2 days a week for 2 hours and 15 minutes. She is loving it.

Realized fall is here :( and have done lots of yard work. Including cutting down our massive apple tree due to a fungus in the trunk.

Celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary (today!)

I didn't take any pics in Vegas. My mom has all the pics from Mesquite. I do have a pic of Lexys off to school...somewhere. (Yep least organized person on earth here.) So I'll just add a few cute ones of my cute girls and call it a night.
