Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving this year we went to my grandma's house. There are always tons of family members there and the turnout was, I think, 35. I was so proud of Justin. We got in the day before and he actually talked to my family and had dinner with everyone without having an anxiety attack. He did take a while to him self playing games on his phone while my brothers and dad watched the Jazz game. Then on Thanksgiving day spent the whole time at my grandma's. He did have to leave early as he had to work early(3 a.m.) the next morning. Alexys and I stayed for a few days to go shopping on Black Friday. I found a lot of good deals and got most of my shopping done in one day! Yaay!!!! Ashlee and I went to Wal Mart at 1:30 a.m. on Friday morning to make sure we knew where all of the things we wanted were. Colby, Cheryl, Brady and Danielle met us there at around 3:30. By the time Wal Mart let us take our stuff and check out (at 5) we had gotten everything we needed. We were out and on our way to Shopko by 5:15. We quickly got the things we needed and were at K mart by 6:00 to see there opening. We then stopped and had breakfast before heading over to Roberts Craft and Burlington. That makes a total of 5 stores in 3 hours (and no none of them were close to each other) We had so much fun. (Probably made more so by us 4 girls being tired and goofy as all get out)

Oh and just as a footnote I have always been totally against shopping on the day after Thanksgiving. I had so much fun that I think I will make it a tradition. So next year if we have Thanksgiving in Vegas Nadine, Mandy, Tristan and Kelly you guys better be ready to pull an all nighter and shop. (ok I'll let you take naps but we will be at the store by 3:30 a.m.)

Alexys' first trip without mom and dad

Last week on Friday I went and took the ACT test. Since it was a five hour test I didn't want to leave Alexys with someone she didn't know for fear of her freaking out. I decided to ask my sister if she would come up for the night and watch Alexys while I took the test then I would take her out to see Twilight (which I still haven't seen yet as the tickets were sold out when the theater said they wouldn't presell the tickets. Yes I'm ticked) Any who, my mom and dad decided to come up also. As Justin decided the weekend before that he wanted to remodel our bathroom and our house was a mess, my parents persuaded me to let them take Alexys for the weekend and we could just take her home after Thanksgiving. The point to this whole long drawn out history is that one: I have never left Alexys for more then a night. And even then we were only a few minutes away, not three hours. Two: we had time to finish the tile work in the bathroom and I had some time to do deep "spring" cleaning. I cleaned out, washed and reorganized all of my kitchen cabinets, washed the walls in both the kitchen and living room, scrubbed the kitchen floor on my hands and knees, and steam cleaned the carpet in the living room. I love when my home is clean. (even though the bathroom is still in shambles as we still need to grout it and all of the bathroom stuff is being stored in ours and Alexys' bedrooms) Alexys had a great time with my parents and siblings, however, my mom told me that they were going to the store one morning and as they strapped her into the car seat she looked up at my mom with a quizzical look and said "Mommy?" So I guess she missed me as much as I missed her. As soon as we got to my parents home she ran up and gave me and Justin big hugs and kisses.

Some good news!!!

On a lighter note from my previous post, I had an appointment at USU Uintah Basin campus today. I am hoping to start taking a few classes here in the spring. YAY ME!!!!

My first blog-RIP Adam.

I thought I would start my blog by giving a little input into my life and who I am. But today I found out some news that kind of broke my heart. One of my friends from Jr. high died early this morning. I was told that he shot himself. He was a very good person and a hero in my book. He signed up for the national guard before he was out of high school. He served a tour of duty in Iraq before he could legally drink. I had heard that he was having a hard time dealing with the after effects of war (maybe a little PTSD?) I can honestly say I haven't seen or had a face to face conversation with him in 5+ years. However he one a person who was a part of my life when I was having a hard time in life. He was dating one of my best friends when we met, in fact that is how we met. I just happened to be one of the only friends of his girlfriend he liked. Because of that we hung out a lot. I doubt he would have really called me a friend but, like I said, he had an impact on my life. He was there when I was going through my rebellious, trying-to-find-me stage of life. Those who were a part of this piece of my life I can honestly say were some of the most important people in shaping who I am today.

So I just have to say rest in peace Adam. One of our country's true heroes!!!
